Connecting families experiencing crisis with local volunteers
During 2025, we were proud to partner with Safe Families to deliver the Home for Good project across three of our Dudley borough foodbanks.
Safe Families offers early help to families experiencing difficulties by providing practical and emotional support, matching families with trained local volunteers who can offer friendship, hands-on help and where appropriate, short-term hosting. They work alongside other services to reduce crisis, strengthen families and help children stay safe and supported at home.
"We are really pleased to be partnering with Black Country Foodbank who have a brilliant team of experienced existing volunteers across the Black Country who we know will be able to support local families in tangible and significant ways, supported by our staff team. It's a really exciting time for us all as we see how this partnership can better support overwhelmed families at the time they most need help." - Helen, Regional Director for Safe Families and Home for Good.
Safe Families are now open to referrals from three of our foodbanks, with one family (mother and teenage daughter) already starting to flourish and rebuild their lives following the support they are now receiving.
