The Discharge Team at Russell’s Hall hospital got in touch to partner with Black Country Foodbank to help provide emergency food parcels to vulnerable patients who are in financial crisis leaving hospital. They contain food items to make meals and will last a couple of days and are intended to give the patient a breathing space while a longer term solution can be developed.
Our Dudley co-ordinator came up with the idea of pre-prepared ‘grab bags’ that staff could give to patients so they had something immediately during this difficult time and then hopefully reduce the initial stress of finding this type of support. Their Chief Executive, Diane Wake, stressed that “the safety of our patients is our top priority”.
Working together helps reach more vulnerable members of the community in and around the Black Country. We are very pleased to be able to help NHS staff who already have their hands full.
