An energy efficient appliance for creating healthy and affordable meals
Thanks to funding, we have been able to purchase slow cookers for families and individuals in the Dudley borough.
They have been a great way to help families cook low-cost nutritious meals whilst also saving on their energy bills.
The feedback we have received has been so encouraging, recipients have felt happy and cared for, and they have been surprised to be receiving a gift for free and excited about being able to use it.
The small cooking appliances have been distributed via some of our foodbanks and partner project organisations in the Dudley Borough to help people beyond the food parcel, giving them the tools to cook healthy, affordable meals at home.
To support the appliance, we have produced a ‘Simple Guide to Slow Cooking’ – a recipe book with some easy, affordable and tasty meals using a slow cooker. These guides are hoped to help people develop essential life skills and can be downloaded here.
